People ask why I still get excited about building websites after all these years. It’s the tiny joys. Here are five of mine.
1. The first pixel
A blank page is a promise. The first heading you type is the moment a project becomes real.
2. Finding the color
Every brand has one color that unlocks all the others. When you find it, the whole palette clicks into place like a puzzle piece.
3. The em-dash moment
When the copy stops sounding like a website and starts sounding like a person — that’s when I know it’s working.
4. Mobile that just works
Shrinking the window and watching everything fold gracefully into place. Quietly one of the most satisfying feelings in the craft.
5. Hitting publish
There’s a small ceremony to it. A deep breath, one last look, and then — it’s alive, and somewhere a stranger is about to meet it.
